Ztrek Reviews Journey’s Revelation

Sun. July 20, 2008

Z Trek: The Alan Zeichick Weblog reviews Journey’s Revelation:

Even so, it was with some trepidation that we ordered Revelation, the new disc by Journey. Would the band sound like Journey, or like a bunch of has-beens trying to recapture their former glory? Fear not: It’s the same old Journey.

I hope you find time to watch the DVD. The band played great.

Don Kishote Talks About Journey’s Revelation

Sat. July 19, 2008

Don Kishote reviews Journey’s Revelation:

If you are a fan of Journey, you must be itching right now to get hold of their latest album — Revelation, featuring Filipino singer Arnel Pineda. Well, Schon and Cain obviously put so much effort to make ‘anthemic’ songs, the way they titled the songs — designed for adaptation. The Schon songs are usually the rock-beat and with classic 80’s guitar wail. Schon is so talented with guitar he couldn’t help but record a guitar solo piece entitled “The Journey” (Revelation) — the last piece in CD 1. Must be on his mind for so long and needs to be released. Neal Schon is a guitar monster and great songwriter at that. On the other hand, Cain’s music are the usual rock-ballad guaranteed to make your girl cry and drop her panties. (sshhh, made love wth Open Arms and Faithfully in the background).

Rockeyez Review

Review of Revelation CD by Rockeyez.com:

The new record is finally upon us! There has been much talk about the band in recent years. From the allegations of using backing vocal tapes in concert, to the vocal problems of Steve Perry replacement Steve Augeri which ultimately lead to the short-lived and somewhat tumultuous tenure of vocalist extraordinaire and solo artist JEFF SCOTT SOTO. Then finally, the way the band found their new singer, Arnel Pineda via youtube.com all the way from the Philippines. At times, it all seemed a little much and of course in the world of the bands rabid fans and on Internet message boards the many varying opinions ensued.

Revelation Music DVD Review BC Music

Wed. July 16, 2008

BC Music Reviews Revelation Music DVD.

When I reviewed Journey’s 2001 concert DVD a few years back, I praised their new lead singer Steve Augeri for his admirable job in filling the shoes of the almost-irreplaceable Steve Perry. Augeri sounded amazingly similar to Perry on most of the songs, and I thought at the time that Journey could not have found a better frontman to keep this band going strong into the new millennium. Damn if they didn’t go out and top themselves again.
